So what did you think of the “Family Guy” season premier (click here to see the full poster from the pic above)?

I liked that the episode was an hour long and although I’m not a fanboy, I’m definitely a “Star Wars” fan, so I really enjoyed it. There were times though when the episode was a little too “Family Guy”-ish. By that I mean that there were times when random jokes were inserted and it completely messed up the pacing of the episode. Normally pacing isn’t that important but this episode was different because it was an hour long and because it was following a single narrative.

I was also a tad disappointed that there weren’t more inside-jokes that fans would get and appreciate. For example, the scene of the two death-star-operators complaining about there not being a safety railing was great. Just like I laughed out loud when the Catina band ask for request and the band leader mocked someone requesting the only song they ever play. I just wish the episode had more moments like those.

Was it just me or did the overall animation seem like a major step-up from how “Family Guy” normally looks? Also, what really made the episode for me was how they constantly framed shots to perfectly match “A New Hope.” They were little shots too… inserts, cutaways… but the really helped the episode feel like “Star Wars.” Then of course the real music and real sound effects REALLY made it feel like “Star Wars.”
