I just got an email letting me know that Sequart has posted the first review of “DAD!”
Despite the book’s problems, this is, intermittently, a compelling read. This feels like an overambitious first project by a young creator, but I admire both King’s ambition and the way he tackled such an intensely personal issue.
It’s a pretty decent review and even the few not-so nice things said about the book are backed-up to the point that I can see where they are comming from. The full review is posted after the break… ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

This cracked me up so much last night that I had to post it today. Basically John McCain canceled his appearance on David Letterman saying he had to fly to D.C. for an emergency. Then halfway through the show Letterman finds out that McCain is down the street doing an interview with Katie Couric. It’s hilarious.

Grrrr… all settled in D.C. and something came up. Blog will be quiet but Twitter won’t be.

After the disaster of Micheal Phelps and James Franco, “Saturday Night Live” needs to bring in a host that can actually host. In fact I can’t even remember the last time “SNL” had an episode where they had more than two laughable skits. So I feel the need to recommend the following celebrities as hosts. Obviously these hosts may or may not be rating grabbers, but quality wise they would all shine compared to the people we’ve been seeing the past few years.
- William Shatner – hosted in ’86
- Bruce Campbell – never hosted
- Lauren Graham – never hosted
- Neil Patrick Harris – never hosted
- Bob Saget – hosted in ’95
- Mary-Louise Parker – never hosted
- Stephen Colbert – wrote for the show
- Jean Smart – never hosted

Brendan Fehr (“Roswell,” “Samurai Girl,” “CSI: Miami”) shared on his site that he is going a stint on “Bones” as Agent Booth’s brother…
I’m going to be playing Jared Booth, D. Boreanaz’s younger brother. Sh$t, I hope I spelled that right, spell check is useless! At any rate, it’s going to be a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to it. The character is great and well written and will be something I haven’t really done yet. He’s got a lot of stuff to work with on the screen and with a great back story so here’s to not screwing it up! It’s been talked of it being an arc for a few episodes but as of now I’m just shooting one starting tomorrow and I’ll leave the next episodes up to those who actually make those decisions.

Heroes returns tonight and I discovered a new spoiler of the upcoming season. To find out about it, continue reading after the break. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

I watch a lot of TV. As a result, I watch a lot of TV that isn’t good. I still think “Fringe” is finding its voice and thus I wouldn’t yet count it as a bad show or show I don’t enjoy. However here is a list of five simple things that would seriously help improve it’s entertainment value:
- “Fringe Science” shouldn’t be used as a cover-up for plot holes.
- Accept that you aren’t “Lost.” Accept that you aren’t “X-files.” Then find your own unique voice.
- Figure out a way to better balance the humor, the horror, and the action. The most talked about thing from the pilot was people complaining about the “Sponge Bob” scene. It’s not that it was a bad scene, it’s that tonally it didn’t flow right from the scene preceding it.
- Learn how to be subtle. Yes generally speaking people are stupid. However the people that watch and obsess over shows like “Lost” or “X-files” are anything but stupid. You don’t need to hit the fans over head with blatant clues that anyone with half a brain could figure out. You’re making things too easy for us to the point that we aren’t interested in knowing more.
- Give Agent Dunham some personality. Right now she’s just a cookie cutter female character that could be on any procedural drama. If you want people to turn in every week then really establish a character that we know and care about.

Hmm a recent casting announcement has me thinking Stella may not be Ted’s future wife. I’ll post my reasoning/theory after the break. I can’t call this a spoiler since I don’t actually know what is going to happen, but still if you hate anything close to a spoiler than don’t keep reading. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

I know The Emmy’s were last night, but you need to go somewhere else to find out who won or to get a blog post about the award show. As usual I boycotted The Emmys because they are nothing but a stupid high school popularity contest where the shows that should get nominated almost never do.

I guess to promote their shows (which span multiple networks) Universal Studios sent out “support” pins for the Emmy’s. That’s just a guess though because the only thing I got with all these buttons was a card saying “Nominate ’08.”

Mike DeVito, the co-publisher of Th3rd World Studios had a serious Vista-related crash. To help him get caught up to speed I’m spending the day lettering a secret project that will be announced at the Baltimore Comic-Con.
