“Beauty and the Beast” in 3D

Disney is converting the academy award nominated “Beauty and the Beast” into pure 3D. By “pure” I mean that they are going back to the original cell drawinings and using 3D technology on them instead of just applying 3D affects in post. This is neat, it’s just weird because “Beauty and the Beast” isn’t computer animated, it’s classic 2D animation.

“By going back to the original animation files, which have been carefully archived for 17 years, and using the separate background, effects and character animation elements, we’re able to come up with a fun and unique 3-D experience for existing and new fans of the film,” Hahn said.
