Since 2004, things in the Marvel Universe have looked something like this (spoilers)…
The Avengers Dissembled. Many died (Of course many have since returned). Then there was a new group of Avengers. Then those new avengers along with other heroes of the Marvel U were put under the spell of a realty warping witch who created an alternate world where they were happy. They destroyed the world and as a results the mutant population was severely shrunk.
Then Spider-Man got a new suit, as a gift from Iron Man. He then outed himself as Peter Parker. This of course was during a Civil War where the heroes were fighting heroes. Then one group of heroes won the war and another group lost. Spider-Man also starting wearing his black suit. Then he sold his soul marriage to keep Aunt May alive and started dating other girls.
Then a hot second later the Hulk starts tearing up the place because like a year previous The Hulk was shot into space and became like king of a planet. He got a chick knocked up, but she was killed so he came back to earth and declared war on the heroes. He lost? or Won? I don’t know. It doesn’t matter because the skrulls have been hiding and pretending to be heroes for like YEARS so they declare war. They almost conquor earth but in the end the villians save the day and so the villains become the new heroes.

Brilliant! Very succinct and hits all the right plot-points. Also makes me realise I’ve been collecting comics for far too many Events… Ahh, 2003… When comics were simple…
In all fairness I did leave out Captain America’s death, but it just didn’t fit right.
I also tried doing this with D.C. but that ended up being like:
There was a crisis. People died. There was a weekly comic. People died. There was another crisis. People died. There was another weekly comic. People died. There was another crisis. Batman Died! No one cared.
