Got work stuff this weekend, which is why I posted my Friday stuff early. See you again in June!

Oh my god. I’m in love! When NBC was trying to spin-off “The Office,” instead of “Parks and Recreation” they should have made “Party Down.” I had meant to only watch the first episode, but laughed so much that before I knew it I had devoured the entire first season. If you like well done dry-humor than you have to check this out.

This one was hard for me to watch because it’s foriegn and I hate subtitles. However what’s great is that I’m such a fast reader that I can fast forward at 2x and still read the subtitles. Not being a big horror buff, this film really didn’t do it for me. However if you enjoy the genre this is both well made and fresh.

I watched the “movie” which was really an extended pilot and I’m not sure what I think. As a cartoon show its whatever. I guess the bottom line is that I’m sick of the pre-original-trilogy era. The movie was so cheesey I didn’t even bother fast forwarding. I ended up leaving it on in the background while I did other stuff.

I knew going in that this was a Bruce Campbell b-movie, but I didn’t realize it was a b-movie about him being in b-movies. There were a lot of inside jokes and Bruce Campbell-isms, but if I wasn’t a Campbell fan I would’ve turned this off within five minutes.

I treated this like I’ve treated all the other “Saw” movies… I fast forwarded to the cool traps and watched the people die. As a 20 minute movie, it’s actually very entertaining.

If you take the all time worse moments of “Viva La Bam” then they would still be better than this crappy excuse for a movie. It’s not funny. They don’t do anything funny. They don’t even do anything really outrageous or entertaining. In fact most of what happens is clearly pre-planned by producers. Avoid this at all cost.

Who would’ve thought Nicolas Cage would make a movie worse than “Next” so fast? This movie was horrendous. Even fast forwarding through it in under 30 minutes made my eyes hurt. The acting, the plot, the action: all BAD.

I didn’t know much about “Last Chance Harvey” before watching it (I pretty much watch everything anyway so limited knowledge doesn’t bother me), but I didn’t realize it was a romantic comedy. Then not just a studio-structured romantic comedy like “Bride Wars” or “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.” This movie, although predictable, has a lot of heart. Not to mention that Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson really get the chemistry going.

Here’s the thing about “Lakeview Terrace,” if you’ve seen the trailers then you can basically fast forward all the way to act three. The whole movie is a waste of time because they spend it building tension, but after the first two and three scenes we get the point. There is no reason to spend the first two acts of the movie beating a dead horse. As for Act III… its meh.
Super write-up of “SuperFogeys”
May 28th, 2009 | by Scott King
“SuperFogeys” got a great write-up and review. If you still haven’t tried out the Th3rd World web comic you really should.
With his strip, The Superfogeys, we are offered a glimpse into the life of those fantastic adventurers once their spirits and/or flesh have been made weak. What this entails is great fun, good laughs, and a cast of characters that are at once ridiculous and pitiable, extraordinary and plain, and full of life in their own particular ways.
The write-up talks about the characters, long term story arcs, writing, the Th3rd World website, and just about everything in between. I’m really happy for Brock ’cause “SuperFogeys” definitely needs wider recognition.

What the hell? The current season of “My Boys” wrapped this week and I’m seriously pissed. Not only is the cast and writing amazing for cable, but it’s one of the best comedies currently on TV. I can’t believe that TBS isn’t giving them a higher episode pick-up. Uhhhhh now we get to wait for months and months and months before more fun times with PJ, Andy, Kenny, Brendo, Mike, and Bobby.

John Lithgow will be Dexter’s nemisis this fall. He will be a blue collar guy, but as a hobby he will dons the identity of the “Trinity Killer,” a serial killer who always kills three times. No word yet on if he will know Dexter, be rivals, friends, or what.

Ian Pool has some comic/fanboy-ish photos in his online album. I love the one of Doctor Octopus with the Jonas Brothers posters.
