We just got the table assignments for SPX and this is where we will be. If you don’t know SPX is one of, if not the largest, indy comic book conventions in the country. It’s on September 10th & 11th and is being held in Bethesda, MD. If you’re free that weekend or will be around it’s totally worth stopping by.
Baltimore Comic Con Write-Up
August 31st, 2010 | by Scott King
All in all, The Baltimore Comic-Con was a great show. Saturday was intense. I’ve been going to the convention for eight or nine years now and it was the most packed I’ve ever seen it. Plus it’s really become a fun show that in a lot of ways is more for the creators.
It’s more chill than SDCC or NYCC but it’s still a big show with a high quality guest list. (That’s the Th3rd World booth pictured above with co-publisher Jon Conkling). ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

OH heck yeah! I got these in the mail from the penclier on “Holiday Wars.” They are sketch cards we are going to sell this weekend at the Baltimore Comic Con and they are amazing. I want to frame them and keep them all to myself.
We only have a limited number for Baltimore, so if you want one you need to make sure you find me ASAP at the convention. I’ll be at the Th3rd World booth! I’m heading out today so the blog will be quiet until I get back (don’t worry, “Holiday Wars” will auto-post at it’s usually scheduled time). Hopefully though I’ll see/meet a lot of you over the weekend.
Wow this looks really good and seems to be a pretty darn faithful adaption of the comic.

The Baltimore Comic-Con is next weekend. I’ll be there and at the Th3rd World booth. They’ve not released the table layouts yet, but it’s not a huge show so it won’t be hard to find me. If you’re there make sure you stop by and say ‘hi.’ I’ll answer any “Holiday Wars” related questions as well as have awesome bookmarks!

Brock Heasley (“SuperFogeys”) did a special call in episode of “TGT” and of course yours truly had to call in. The show was recorded late via Pacific time so after asking a few questions I ducked out, but I did leave behind more questions that were answered. To download it, either checkout the link above or search for “TGT” on iTunes.

Last week I got an artists edition of “Imagine This: Dewey Defeats Truman,” the newest collection of “Imagine This” strips from Lucas Turnbloom. If you’re not familiar with the strip this collection is a great way to get started. Buy it here!
Because I got the artist edition of the book, mine came with the cool sketch you see above. I loved it so much I had to cut the page out of the book and it’s just waiting for me to find the perfect frame for it. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

“Scott Pilgram” Vol 6: Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour
July 21st, 2010 | by Scott King
It’s dumb to write a review for “Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour” because if you are a fan then you will be getting this no matter what and if you aren’t a fan then you need to start with book 1 so you’ll become one.
However there is one thing I want to say about volume six and it’s this: it’s the best. Not only is it fun in the classic “Scott Pilgrim” kind of way, but it transcends the previous books by including actual character arcs and growth. Seriously if’ you’ve never read “Scott Pilgrim” you’ve made a big mistake.

Because I now work in the industry, I stopped covering comics on the blog. However today I want to point out some huge news. Zuda shut down:
As for the site, from here on out, Zuda Comics will be folded into DC Comics’ exciting, new Digital Publishing initiative. Expect more Zuda series to be released through the DC Comics and comiXology Apps, the Sony PSP and on both the comiXology website and, eventually, the main DC Comics website as well. You’ll be able to read all of your digital editions and manage your entire library in one place, whether DCU, Vertigo, WildStorm or Zuda. The goal there is convergence of technology and convergence of editorial.
It’s a big deal because it was DC testing out the waters in regards to web comics, but more importantly it was a huge place for new creators to at least semi-break into the industry. So it’s sad that the “experiment” is ending.

Ever wonder what you’d look like as a character in “Scott Pligram?” No need to wonder anymore.

No matter what I say, you’re going to go see “Iron Man 2″ anyway so I’ll make this brief:
- Is it better than the first movie? No.
- Is it still fun and worth seeing in the theater? Yes.

There is no better Marvel Comic adaption than “X-Men: The Animated Series.” If you’re a comic fan then you seriously need to drop what you’re doing and buy volumes one through five.

With “Iron Man 2″ hitting theaters later this week, it only makes sense that the 90′s animated series would be resurrected for DVD.
