Ask any hardcore Batman fan and they will tell you that “TAS” was the best incarnation ever of Batman and that “Mask of The Phantasm” is the greatest Batman movie of all time. That is no longer the case. “Batman: Under The Red Hood” is amazing. Don’t be confused either, “Under the Red Hood” is not a movie for kids. It’s dark. VERY dark and there is a lot of blood and killing.
The straight to DVD release not only does justice to the storyline from the comic, but in a lot of ways it improves it. That’s not an insult to the comic, both have the same writer, it’s just as in movie form a lot of the continuity were dropped so that Judd Winick could really focus on the characters.

This is crazy. A bunch of fans did homemade segments from “Star Wars: A New Hope” and then those were all cut together to form the full movie. Checkout the scene above or watch the whole thing here.

Why? Why was this movie made? No one should ever ever watch this movie. It’s bad. Beyond bad. Every copy should be destroyed.
Seriously, It’s one long spoof of “Twilight.” The problem is that it ONLY spoofs “Twilight.” It’s done in such a way that real fans would be offended while non-fans wouldn’t understand the jokes. It makes no sense that other vampire movies/books/shows weren’t also spoofed. Avoid this movie at all cost.

Yes, it’s based on the comic and is a pretty faithful adaption… but it’s also from the same guy who did “Shawn of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz.” If you like laugh out loud comedies then there is no reason you shouldn’t see this! Will it win awards, no. Will it be one of the funnest movies of the year? Epic Yes.
http://www.scottking.info/Pics/Return_of_the_Jedi_FULL_Missing_Lightsaber_scene.flv This is the deleted scene from “Return of the Jedi” that was shown last weekend at the Star Wars Celebration. It starts over with voice work and then the last minute is actual never before seen footage of Luke building a lightsaber..

I enjoy the books, but I was really shocked at how well the movie adapted the first book in terms of tone and overall humor. What I enjoyed most about the movie, other than the AWESOME real life version of Rowely, is how they really amped up Greg’s character arc. There are times when Greg really isn’t that likeable of a character and yet by the end he fully redeems hims. The movie was fun and if you have kids it’s a great movie to watch with them.

Finally got around to seeing “Inception” and I loved it. It’s not a GREAT film, there are a few holes and things that don’t add up, but who cares? It’s beautiful and exactly the kind of movie that you need to see in the theater. Think of it as “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” but substituting character development for guns and explosions.

“Secrets of Kell” is an animated film that has gotten almost no press. It had a very limited release last spring and is set to be released on DVD this October. Make sure you mark whatever list you have because it’s a must see for everyone. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

2010 needs to be labeled as THE YEAR OF AWESOME KID MOVIES. First there was “How to train your Dragon,” then “Toy Story 3,” and now “Despicable Me.” “Despicable Me” is just a fun movie. The humor is well rounded so it appeals to all ages and although it’s not as heart wrenching as something like “Toy Story 3″ or “Up” there is still a warm sentimentality that flows through it and raises it above the average animated film. If you have kids, or even if you don’t, seeing “Despicable Me” is a great movie to see.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen an indie film and really enjoyed it (by “indie” I mean true independent film, not a movie done by a major studio in an indie style, like “500 Days of Summer”). Timer has a slight sci-fi vibe to it because it’s about a society where a timer counts down till when you meet your soul mate, but at the fore front “Timer” is a dramedy.
Emma Caulfield absolutely shines as the lead character and is just as funny as she was back in the day on “Buffy.”Although I enjoyed the movie it’s not for everyone. This is the kind of film best left to watch if liked “Stranger than Fiction” or “eternal sunshine of a spotless mind.”

Saw “Toy Story 3″ in 3D over the weekend. It didn’t go that well though becaue there was an electrical problem at the theater and they couldn’t turn the lights out. It made watching the movie with the polarized glasses nearly impossible, so I ended up watching it blurry with the glasses off. The theater gave out free passes and apologized for the problem but it really ruined the movie.
That being said, even watching it in a sub-par environment, it was great. “Pixar” didn’t just crank it out for $$$. The themes and overall plot connect back to the first film and serve as a perfect book end for the trilogy. Even if you don’t have kids, it’s well worth seeing in the theater!

If “Date Night” was a romantic comedy or dramedy then it would’ve been a great movie. Instead it’s not funny and doesn’t play to either Steve Carell’s or Tina Fey’s strengths. Even worse is that the whole plot of the film is stupid and has to do with them being mistaken for thieves trying to black mail a senator. Avoid this movie at all cost.

Ever wonder what you’d look like as a character in “Scott Pligram?” No need to wonder anymore.

Jackie Chan is no Mr. Miyagi, but Jaden Smith does a decent job of filling Daniel’s shoes. At the end of the day the remake is a fun family film and my only real complaint (ignoring the fact that it’s 100% formulaic) is that it did lack some of the angst that the original had.

“Mystery Team” is a hell of an odd movie. It’s one part “Venture Bros” one part “Hardy Boys” and one part “The Hangover.” The tone is very odd, but as long as you enjoy random/dry humor you’ll love it.
