These two do a decent job of spoiling 50 of 2009’s biggest movies.
“Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths” Review

I kind of just put on “Crisis on Two Earths” while cleaning and wasn’t going to watch it, but 10 minutes into it I stopped scrubbing and was full engrossed into the movie.
If you’re any kind of comic book fan then the movie is worth checking out. There is a plot that makes sense. Certain characters have arcs. There is tons of actions. My only complaint is that I have problems watching an animated version of Batman who isn’t voiced by Kevin Conroy.
“Halo Legends” Review

The whole premise to “Halo Legends” is dumb. Basically they tried to do the “Animatrix” only it doesn’t work. This would’ve been much better if there was a consistent storyline instead of random stories set in the Halo universe. Sure the animation and overall quality is pretty, but unless you’re a hardcore Halo fan there is no point wasting your time with this anthology.
Oscar Noms…

As has become a tradition here at ScottKing.info, I will not be posting the Oscar Nominations. An easy google search will let you know who the academy deemed worthy of a nomination. There are a few decent picks, but because The Oscars are a perverted popularity contest those who deserve to win, definitely won’t.
“Planet Hulk” Review

I really enjoyed the “Planet Hulk” book so I expected to hate the animated movie, however the cartoon turned out to be pretty entertaining. For obvious reasons, the movie isn’t as dark as the book, but I was still surprised by the amount of blood and gore.
Even better is that the movie isn’t an hour and thirty minutes of bad fighting (like that stupid “Wolverine Vs.” movie). The plot stays true to the book and the time is taken to really flesh out the supporting cast. Overall, “Planet Hulk” was a fun watch. I don’t know if I’d recommend buying it, but it’s definitely worth renting if you’re a fan of the book.
Where Are You In The Movie?

You gotta checkout “Where Are You In the Moive?” It takes your age and tells you where you’d be in that movie (They have tons, I just did “Star Wars” cause I’m a dork”). So since I’m 27 and plan to be at least 103 I’m the screenshot above.
In Defense of “Avatar’s” Writing
![]()
I bashed “Avatar’s” writing without hesitation and I fully 100% stand by my bashing. So it cracked me up when the head of my grad school department sent out the following essay written by John Trudy:
In all the visual splendor of James Cameron’s Avatar, it’s easy to overlook the script. In fact, the Avatar screenplay has come in for the same abuse Cameron’s Titanic script earned. You’ve heard the complaints: the story is a Pocahontas rip-off. The bad guys are just evil villains. The dialogue is stilted. In short, great visuals, bad screenwriting.
The critics aren’t so much wrong as irrelevant. What they don’t get is that Cameron is a brilliant writer of pop culture. He is one of three or four best popular storytellers, and his secret, which all current screenwriters need to know, is his mastery of genres. (Read on …)
“Avatar” Screenplay
![]()
In their campaign to win a Razzie, Fox put the screenplay for “Avatar” online. It’s from 2007 and does include cut scenes, but the dialog is still from a bad 80’s cartoon.
“James Cameron’s Laser Cats 5″
I was excited for “SNL” because I was SURE they’d do something hilarous for the whole Leno/Conan thing. They didn’t. Their Late Night sketch was complete garbage with the worst impressions I’ve ever seen. That being said, “James Cameron’s Laser Cats 5″ cracked me up!
“The Lovely Bones” Review

I didn’t read the book, but I have a feeling that Peter Jackson’s movie version of “The Lovely Bones” is the mess that it is because it stayed too true to the source material. (Read on …)
Ellie’s Painting from “Up”

Remember that “Art of Up” book I got last week? I couldn’t resit. In simply a matter of hours I already ripped out my favorite picture in the book: Ellie’s painting of Paradise Falls. A quick trip to Ikea and now I have an awesome new framed picture hanging on my wall.
“Up In The Air” Screenplay

The screenplay for “Up In The Air” has hit the web, because they are looking for a best adapted screenplay nomination. If you’re a writer it’s interesting to check out because it’s the original spec script, not the shooting script.
“The Art of Up”

So excited! I ordered “The Art of Up” from Amazon back in September, but it’s been on back-order. So my awesome BFF snagged it for me from B&N. It’s like the rest of the Pixar “Art of” books with concept, early sketches, and storyboards, but it also has a lot of information about the writing, which is why I wanted it.
It talks about Carl’s arc, how all the characters evolved through re-writes and tons of other good stuff. I just wish the actual screenplay was available for purchase or on the internet.
