We just got the table assignments for SPX and this is where we will be. If you don’t know SPX is one of, if not the largest, indy comic book conventions in the country. It’s on September 10th & 11th and is being held in Bethesda, MD. If you’re free that weekend or will be around it’s totally worth stopping by.
Baltimore Comic Con Write-Up
August 31st, 2010 | by Scott King
All in all, The Baltimore Comic-Con was a great show. Saturday was intense. I’ve been going to the convention for eight or nine years now and it was the most packed I’ve ever seen it. Plus it’s really become a fun show that in a lot of ways is more for the creators.
It’s more chill than SDCC or NYCC but it’s still a big show with a high quality guest list. (That’s the Th3rd World booth pictured above with co-publisher Jon Conkling). ↓ Read the rest of this entry…

OH heck yeah! I got these in the mail from the penclier on “Holiday Wars.” They are sketch cards we are going to sell this weekend at the Baltimore Comic Con and they are amazing. I want to frame them and keep them all to myself.
We only have a limited number for Baltimore, so if you want one you need to make sure you find me ASAP at the convention. I’ll be at the Th3rd World booth! I’m heading out today so the blog will be quiet until I get back (don’t worry, “Holiday Wars” will auto-post at it’s usually scheduled time). Hopefully though I’ll see/meet a lot of you over the weekend.

We got these made to give out as a promotional item at conventions (free with the purchase of any Th3rd World book or product), but just encase there are any hardcore fans who REALLY want one you can get it here for $1 (shipping is included and I’ll sign it!).

“The Stuff of Legend: Book 1: The Dark” (tpb)
May 6th, 2010 | by Scott King
I totally got my copy of “The Stuff of Legend” Graphic Novel. Did you? If you didn’t simply visit your local comic shop or B&N. It’s definitely worth it. Story synopsis:
“The year is 1944. As Allied forces fight the enemy on Europe’s war-torn beaches, another battle begins in a child’s bedroom in Brooklyn. When the nightmarish Boogeyman snatches a boy and takes him to the realm of the Dark, the child’s playthings, led by the toy soldier known as the Colonel, band together to stage a daring rescue.
On their perilous mission they will confront the boy’s bitter and forgotten toys, as well as betrayal in their own ranks. Can they save the boy from the forces of evil, or will they all perish in the process? The Stuff of Legend is a haunting and ultimately redemptive tale of loyalty, camaraderie, and perseverance.”

Don’t forget, Saturday is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! Visit your local comic book shop and make sure you pick up a copy of our flip book with a preview of “The Stuff of Legend” Vol 2 and the comic adaption of New York Times Best Selling Author Cassandra Clare’s “The City of Bones.”

We just announced the cover for Th3rd World’s FCBD book. For those of you not familiar, Free Comic Book Day is an annual event where comic book shops around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes to their store.
This year our book is a mesh-up, previewing several titles, including Volume II of “The Stuff of Legend” and the comic adaption of “City of Bones.” Our full solication for the book:
Don’t be left in “The Dark” this year, as Th3rd World Studios presents not only a recap of the toys’ first adventure from The Stuff of Legend Volume I, The Dark, but also a first look at Volume 2, The Jungle coming in June. Also, get your first look at Th3rd World’s adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s New York Times best-selling novel, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, a young adult fantasy series in which a young teen girl discovers a shadowy world filled with demon-hunting warriors.
“The Stuff Of Legend” Trade Earns Reprints
March 25th, 2010 | by Scott King
Anticipation for “The Stuff of Legend” has been so high that it has gone back to print before the book has even shipped! If you wanted to snag a copy for yourself just let your local bookstore know or hit up Amazon.
For anyone not familiar with “The Stuff of Legend” the trade, being released by Random House, hits stores at the end of next month and collects both volumes 1 and 2 of the best selling comic. The art is simply beautiful and the story has a just enough edge that parents as well as kids can enjoy it. A preview of issue one can be found here while tons of the original artwork is on sale through the Th3rd World store.

Got word this week that Th3rd World, and yours truly, will be attending The Small Press Expo this year. Some of my secret projects will be announced by then so if you are in the DC area make sure you plan on stopping by to see me.

I’ve held a pre-sale copy of “The Stuff of Legend” trade and it is AWESOME! You can pre-order it here from Amazon or from pretty much any book store since Random House is distributing it.
